Jesus and the Samaritan Women - Part 5
God, open my heart today to who you are and who I am.
Read: John 4:39-42 English Standard Version (ESV)
39 Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of his word.42 They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.”
The woman at the well left immediately after talking to Jesus went and told the men of her city what Jesus said to her. She could not keep the news to herself that he might be the Messiah. How many times out of fear do we clam up and not even give Jesus a chance to work in someone’s heart. If they don’t hear our rescue story from sin, an opportunity is lost for the Holy Spirit to begin a work in their hearts. John Newton a man who was involved in the slave trade in the 1700’s and eventually the author of the wonderful hymn Amazing Grace made this statement late in his life.
“Although my memory is fading I remember two things very clearly:
I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior.”
That was the woman’s testimony and it is our testimony also.
“Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found was blind but now I see.”
Who have you shared your testimony with lately? Don’t underestimate what God will do with your story.
Show me Lord who needs to hear about your amazing love.
