“The Lost is Found”
Open my eyes to the things you treasure, Father God.
Read: Luke 15:8-10
8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins[a] and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
How many times have you gone looking for that favorite thing, a favorite shirt or CD or book. Maybe you’ve even torn the house upside down looking for that favorite something. You could have one hundred other CD’s, but when you’re missing one you’ll go to great lengths to find that one. That’s the glimpse we catch in this passage of the woman who looks in every nook and cranny of her home for that one lost coin. Yes, she was beyond glad for the other nine she still had, but there was still that one missing. How often do we get so focused on the things going on in our lives and the lives of our close friends & family, both the mountains and the valleys, that we get distracted from the call of the Father to go out and search for the “lost coins” around us? We can get busy with our own dreams, ambitions, sports, activities, and forget we were once that lost coin…the one Jesus came searching for.
Ask God to give you His eyes of compassion, looking for the “lost coins” He wants to bring back into His fold.
Thank you God for chasing after me as Your dearly loved treasure.
