Living Out a Healthy Lifestyle - Part 1

Opening Prayer:

Lord, quiet my mind and my heart so I can hear what you have to say to me.

Read: 1 Corinthians 6: 18-20

18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

How often are we compromising? We live in a world where sexual messages are everywhere. They’re in books, movies, television shows, magazines, songs; and the list goes on and on. We see and consume these sexual messages all the time. How often are you saying to yourself “It’s not a big deal” or “I can handle it”? Whether we like it or not, what we consume influences us. Sexual sin has a unique quality: it is a sin against your own body. You carry it with you and wear it on you everywhere you go. As a Christ follower, you have become a temple of the Holy Spirit. You no longer belong to yourself and the old flesh has desires which can hurt you. You belong to God, who desires for you a new body and purity. Don’t compromise at the price of your purity. It is difficult to obtain but easy to lose. Say “no” to yourself or others and reap the rewards of a pure spirit. There are so many!

Write down a couple things in your life that may be hindering your purity. It could be as innocent a favorite show or the songs on the radio. Take a step toward putting these things out of your life.

Closing Prayer:

Father, thank you for your Son who has saved us from our sin and old ways. Give us the strength and courage to walk in the purity you call us to.
