Living Out a Healthy Lifestyle - Part 4

Opening Prayer:

Lord, thank you for today. I pray that you would help me be still and quiet today before your presence.

Read: Psalm 46:10

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

When was the last time you were completely still and quiet? So much of our lives we spend going from one place to the next at lightning speed. We have to-do lists and spreadsheets and budgets and “let me check my calendar” and appointments and practices and stop. When was the last time you were still? When was the last time you were still and acknowledged that God is in control? When we run through life at lightning speed we run ourselves out. Pretty soon we are falling into fear and worry. Then we are spiraling out of control and wondering “how did I get here?” God didn’t create us to get the next promotion, be the perfect (fill-in-the-blank), or do everything we possibly can fit on the calendar. God created us to know Him, love Him, and love His people. Creating room in your lives to be still and know that He is God is essential. By sitting down and dwelling in His presence, you can give all your fears to Him. You can become free. He is the God who will be exalted among the nations and in the earth. He is everything you need. Create the room in your life to listen to Him, acknowledge Him, and because of this you will begin to know Him.

Carve out ten minutes today to be still and know that He is God. Maybe it means you will have to say no to something. But today, be sure to say yes to God.

Closing Prayer:

God, so many times I run myself out. You are all I need. Help me to remember this and still myself before you so that I can know you better.
