Living Out Strong Relationships - Part 2
Dear Lord, open my eyes to all I have to share with others. Amen.
Read: Ephesians 4:28
28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
I have read some of the studies. There are plenty of books out there about it. But yet, I need constant reminders. The studies I have seen go something like this - It brings me more happiness to give $20 to someone else than it is to spend it on myself. Or maybe something like this - generous people are more content. To be generous, I have to have something to share. And I don't get things by stealing, but by acting with honesty and by working.
This is all part of God's design. Even before all the studies and books on the subject, Paul knew that giving blesses both the receiver and the giver. He is calling the Ephesians - and all of us - to get to work not only to be a productive member of society, but for a deeper purpose. The reason he is calling us to do "something useful with his own hands" is to share. It can be the money or products you make, a service you provide, or role you play in the home. This sharing doesn't just happen. It is a choice and takes honest work, but it blesses others and it blesses us!
Dear Lord, you have given me so much. Help me put that to good work to be a blessing to others. Amen
