Make a Way for the One: Week 2 - Day 2
Lord, you know my heart. Forgive me when I stray from you. I want to follow your path and your ways.
Read: Mark 2:8-11 (NIV)
“8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and He said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. So, he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”
Jesus knew what was in the hearts of the teachers of the law. However, the goal of Jesus’ words and action was always for God to get the greatest glory. Many times, what we think God should be doing in our life does not bring Him glory but ourselves glory. Not only was this man healed of his physical affliction but also his spiritual sickness. Those who were privileged to be there began to hear about God’s greatest plan which was for Jesus to offer Himself for our sin. No matter the cost to Himself, Jesus stayed on God’s course for His life. He did not waver when the message was not popular with those standing around in the crowd. How about us? Are we willing to share God’s message to those around us regardless of what other’s may be thinking?
How many times do our words and actions only benefit our life plan? Think about an area in your life that needs to change so that God is receiving more glory. What steps do you need to take so that it becomes a reality in your life?
Lord, I have decided to follow you. Please show me where I am making decisions for myself and not you. Please use me to spread the good news of Jesus.
