Make a Way for the One: Week 2 - Day 4
God, thank you for all You have done in my life. Help me to hear Your words today and live them out for Your pleasure.
Read: Psalm 19:14 (NIV)
“14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
You can pretty much tell what a person loves by listening to their conversations. Everything from football to kids to the latest home decoration project can dominate our words. Jesus said in Luke 6:45 that “out of our heart the mouth speaks”. What we focus and meditate on inside our mind and heart eventually comes out of our mouth. What we really love will reveal itself. David in this Psalm is asking God for his heart attitude and his words to give God glory. What a challenge it is with our busy schedules and the distraction of technology to be intentionally meditating on God’s word and character. Today let’s start new today and make David’s prayer our prayer as well.
Take a heart inventory and see if you can tell what dominates your focus. In the midst of your daily work and home responsibilities, is there something you are routinely thinking about that is negatively affecting your life? What are you using as a “thought” escape from life that might be taking you away from meditating more on Christ.
Forgive me, Lord, for allowing so many other things to distract my thoughts from you. Today I pray with David, may my words and the thoughts of my heart please You.
