Christmas - Joy - Day 16

Opening Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come to you in this moment with an open and clear mind to hear what you have to say to me. Please, Lord, bless me with discernment and understanding that I will fully comprehend the message contained in your word. In Jesus name, Amen.

 Read: 1 John 1: 3-4, NIV

3 “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete.”

One night a little over six years ago, I was involved in a motorcycle accident that, according to police, paramedics, and doctors should have killed me. As I stood in the middle of the street fully conscious, with no broken bones or injuries, I felt an indescribable “surge” move through my body. As it moved through me, it said, “You’re okay. You’re mine.” Prior to this night, there had been times I doubted God’s existence. However, that night I encountered the Holy Spirit on a physical level. He “proved” to me that he most certainly was real by allowing me to physically encounter him. I have NO doubt in “the realness” of Christ. After experiencing that night, knowing that Jesus was/is real and sharing what he did for me brings me more joy than I can explain.

As an original disciple and apostle of Jesus himself, John knew Jesus was real. He could touch him, smell him, eat with him, talk with him, walk with him, and so on. John had REAL fellowship with Jesus. Chapter 1:1 says, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.”  John wrote this to provide assurance and hope to the people that Jesus was, and is, exactly what he claimed to be… the Son of God, the Light of the World. JESUS WAS AND IS REAL!!!

Whether it be through a cataclysmic event or simply by sitting back and observing God’s majesty in the creation of the world; the mountains, seas, trees, etc., find the “realness” of God and, with Joy in your heart and mouth, share him!

 Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for being who you say you are and for doing what you say you’ll do. Thank you providing me with examples of your existence through your creation and through your faithful followers. I mostly thank you for your son Jesus Christ whose physical presence 2000 years ago and spiritual presence, each and every day, prove you are real! It’s in Jesus’ beautiful name I pray, Amen.
