Christmas - Joy - Day 18

Opening Prayer:

Lord God, I thank you for this time we have together. I pray your words will come alive and resonate in my heart, mind, and spirit. I pray I will live out the words I read. As I am blessed by your words, equip me so that I can be, and will be, a blessing to those I contact; bringing you all the glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Read: Psalm 16:7-11, NIV

“I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

As a boy growing up, I was fortunate to have a dad whose physical presence was a pure reflection of God. When he walked in a room, he brought peace and love. He also brought wise counsel and discipline. The best moments I remember were our prayer times just before going to sleep. He would wrap his arms around me, engulfing me completely. There was no safer place for be. There was no greater joy than to be in dad’s presence at that moment. As a young boy growing up and into manhood, I experienced with my earthly father what I would experience with my Heavenly father later in life….Joy in his presence!!!

As you experience the joy in the Lord’s presence, show that joy to someone close to you; your child, your spouse, your brother or sister, or maybe a friend. Allow your presence to bring peace and joy because God has brought that to you!

Closing Prayer:

Father God, I thank you for your presence in my life. Thank you, Lord, for wrapping your arms around me and never leaving me. Fill me with the peace and the joy that comes from knowing you. Allow me to reflect that very same peace and joy to those around me. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
