The Master Plan - Part 1

Lord, I thank you for this day and your divine plan for it. I ask that you open my heart through the power of your Holy Spirit, so that I might hear what you have to say to me.

4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

From the beginning of our lives, God is involved. His plan for us pre-dates our existence.  Mind blown!  Right?  At the creation of man in the garden, He desired to create the first marriage relationship. He crafted Eve from Adam and together they became one flesh. God envisioned a partnership that is sacred and wonderful. As He created each part of our world, He called it “good”. As He made the crashing, salty ocean and the trees standing tall over the earth, He called them good. As He made the sly fox and the towering mountains He called them good. But the plans He had for man and woman were greater still. He created for us a beautiful design, that “man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh,” He created us for each other. This passage tells how He encourages us to leave the family we’ve known and establish a new family. And in this pursuit, we find a life partner- someone to be committed to for as long as we have breath. We have another person to do life with, encourage, laugh and cry with. And He has called it good!

Today, take some time to pray for your spouse (or future spouse). Thank God for this relationship and ask for wisdom as you find ways to strengthen it.

God, thank you for the beautiful design you had for marriage. Please help me to remember it as sacred and treat it so.
