The Master Plan - Part 4

Lord, please give me the courage to bring your truth into all areas of my life. Help me to focus today as I read your Word and reflect on its truth.

READ: Deutoronmy 6:6-9, NIV

6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

One of the most wonderful things that can come out of a marriage is children. Little people created from the joining of parents, composed of their genes and yet having a wild will of their own. Parents who are believers have a duty to be the shepherd of their children’s hearts and teach them about Jesus as opportunities arise each day. This duty is one of the highest responsibilities for parents. But there are challenges along the way. It can be hard, because the world is full of trouble and turmoil. And our kids are impressionable. They take in the world around them like sponges and the experiences they have will be with them their whole life. Someone or some idea will lead them. Take advantage of the opportunities given each day to guide them to the truth of God’s word. Let’s not grow tired or be complacent about training them in God’s love and truth.  Remember in Proverbs 22 it tells us to “train a child in the way they should go and when they grow older they will not depart from it.”  Remember it’s our job to train them up and trust God for the results.  They will be our legacy and his on this earth.

Simply share the truth that God loves them with a child in your life.

God, thank you for the blessing of children! May I be quick to foster truth in the hearts of the children around me and also my own.
