The Master Plan - Part 5

OPENING PRAYER:

Lord, you are an amazing creator. Let me glimpse your work the way you always intended me to see it - purely and wonderfully.

READ: Genesis 2:24-25, NIV

24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. 25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

REFLECT:

This is such a beautiful picture that God gives us in Genesis, and it points us to his heart for marriage. In marriage we find our complement, someone to confide in and feel unashamed with. God wants us to know the truth: that he created us for each other. He created male and female specifically for each other. We fit together perfectly, both figuratively and literally. In culture we hear so many conflicting views on sexuality, but the only place God created it for was between a husband and wife. God had an amazing plan. He knew that Adam needed a perfect complement. Someone who would enrich his life, challenge him, and work alongside him. So he put Adam to rest and crafted from his rib a woman. When Adam wakes and meets his complement, he is so pleased that he cries out “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.” He can not help but be in awe of what God created for him. And God made them to unite, become one, and honor him in doing so.

APPLY:

Take some time to dwell on the picture of marriage God created in the garden. How has the world tainted that? What do you need to do to realign your mindset with God’s plan?

CLOSING PRAYER:

God, I thank you for the wisdom you had in creating man and woman for each other.
