Make Your Mark - Week 1 - Day 5

Opening Prayer

Father, open wide the door for my understanding of our word. Help me to be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. Amen!

Read: 2 Timothy 1:7

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (NIV)

Many people are naturally quiet, withdrawn, timid, yet God helps us to love and “live larger” than our natural tendencies when we look to him – our confidence and motivation come directly from him. It’s because of his Spirit that we can be bold and powerful in exclaiming the good news of Jesus and the salvation he offers. We can choose to hide, afraid of walking out on the calling we’ve been given, or we can take hold of the power that’s available to us, walking in the Spirit and being part of great things for the kingdom. The followers of Jesus who press on despite their fear and trepidation are the ones who see the biggest miracles and things they never could have done on their own. We have a Father who is fully capable of harnessing our gifts and expanding them for extraordinary things. Are you ready?

Today, this week, this month, look for opportunities to put yourself on the line…things that will only be accomplished through the power of God’s Spirit. He created you to do great and wonderful things, but it’s going to take a willingness to stretch and move forward.

Closing Prayer:

Dear Father, would you give me eyes to see the people you put in my path who need what you’ve given me? Help me to hold those things loosely that others may praise your goodness. Amen.
