Make Your Mark - Week 1 - Day 3

Opening Prayer

Father God, open my eyes to understand these words. Please plant them deep in my heart and make them my story. Amen!

Read: 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.” (NLT)

Reading through this chapter in 1 Corinthians, the words and exhortations of Paul are all about building up the Body in Corinth, preparing them to be the Church living all out for the cause of Christ. He leads by example, taking opportunities as they’re presented (wide open doors), while at the same time acknowledging the adversaries who will work to thwart the path he’s been set on. He’s the godly big brother living a life characterized by love. This kind of love isn’t weak or soft, but is strong, confident, and bold. It will take courage and standing firmly by faith, but it’s the way of Christ.

Do you feel your life is characterized by a boldness and love beyond that which you can humanly do? That’s the life Christ demonstrated, as did Paul. It’s the life of holiness, being set apart to act and do at God’s hastening. You have the ability as a follower of Christ, because of the Holy Spirit living in you, to show a courage and strength to love in ways you never thought possible. Today is the best first day to begin that life beyond yourself.

Closing Prayer:

Dear Father, I thank you that through Christ, I’m no longer my own measurement of living in victory. your Spirit living in and through me makes it possible for me to be bold, courageous, and loving in a way only you can do. I praise you!!
