You Can Work Well - Day 3

Father God, let me be aware of your presence today as I go about my work. In whatever circumstance I find myself, help my actions speak of you without saying a single word to those around me. Amen.

READ: Titus 2:12

“And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God.” (New Living Translation)

Every fashionista worth her salt knows that accessories make the outfit.  A simple black dress can be turned into a fashion statement by choosing the right accessories. Interesting that Paul draws a parallel between the way we work and how we impact the perception of the doctrine we proclaim.  It isn’t the pocket square or necktie or the colorful scarf or blingy bracelet, but the honesty, loyalty and integrity with which we approach our work that makes a Christ-follower stand out

For many who identify as a Christian, there is a separation or compartmentalizing with regard to their faith. Who they are at church or church-related activities are different than who they are at work. Paul eliminates this separation in his letter to Titus. He leaves no room for conducting ourselves differently in  our work whether it is in a business setting, at home or at school. We are urged to stand out from the world by our devotion to Christ.

Our conduct is the accessory we wear that bears witness to the faith we proclaim. It is by our cooperative spirit, trustworthiness and respectful attitudes that we affirm the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lord God, I want to be the same person in whatever situation I find myself. Help me, especially, to conduct myself with honor and integrity in my day to day work. I want the words that I say to match the actions witnessed by those around me.  Amen.
