Field of Dreams - Day 1
Dear God, today if I hear your voice, don’t let me harden my heart, as I did in my rebellion. (Paraphrase of Hebrews 3:15)
Read: Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
We don’t know who wrote Hebrews, but it was directed at Jews who had an important decision to make: Believe Jesus or continue hoping for the messiah. Their decision isn’t completely unlike our decision today: Have faith in Jesus or _________. Fill in the blank. What do you hope for? What, or who, do you consult for your assurance?
“Now” – A great word to begin a lesson on faith. Not tomorrow, not next week. Not when the crops are harvested (oomph, Field of Dreams cornfield.) Faith is firmly planted in the present. Faith is also immediate; don’t put it off until later.
What is your definition of faith? This week we are looking at some people who, while keeping faith, prospered or suffered, yet all had faith.
Dear God, remind me of your provision when I have trusted you. I want my life to be measured by what you have done in my life and through me. Don’t let my faith waiver.
