Restart - Day 1
Lord, I bring all I am to you. Help me to hear your voice through your Word today.
Read: Ephesians 4:22 (NIV)
22 “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires.”
What if your family lived in the Bahamas and had to move to the North Pole? There would be many decisions to make regarding housing and transportation, but one of the issues would be clothing and everyone would have to get a new wardrobe. The warm weather wardrobe would have to be left behind. The words “put off” in today’s verse refers to the idea of changing clothes. Christ bought and paid for you to have a new wardrobe. New attitudes, thoughts and ways of living are what we put on. Our lives are now as different as that extreme move from the Bahamas to the North Pole. Let’s start the year by looking at stubborn old behavior patterns and asking God to show us how to get rid of them. We should only be wearing that new wardrobe!
The Holy Spirit living in us provides the strength and the power for us to live this new life. What old habits or attitudes from the past are you still wearing? Write them down and ask God to show you how to address and move past each one.
Dear God, I desire to be like you. Please show me the heart attitudes that I need to confess so that my life looks like Jesus.
