FOR... The Forgotten - Day 5

Opening Prayer:

I have come to you this week to be reminded of why we help the forgotten. Dear Lord, thank you for helping me work toward eternity to find meaning today.

Read: Matthew 25:45-46 (NIV)

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ 46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Reflect:

There are consequences for ignoring God’s call for your life! We will not meet the needs of everyone else in life, but to deny ever helping others is to deny God. If to do something for the needy is to do it for God, then the opposite is true. If we have something we can do for others and do not do it, we are choosing not to express our love to him.

Apply:

If being overwhelmed by all the need in the world keeps you from taking action, take heart in these words from religious poet Hannah More: “You know the world too well to expect to do all the good you wish, but you will certainly do some, perhaps a great deal.” Go now and do something good for the forgotten.

Closing Prayer:

Dear Lord, direct my path. In all my ways, I will acknowledge you. Amen.
