FOR... The Forgotten - Day 1
Dear Heavenly Father, you have not forgotten me; please help me to not forget others.
Read: Matthew 25:35 (NIV)
35 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.”
Have you ever been forgotten? Like really forgotten, when it mattered, and when you cared? I remember a Christmas with our extended family when I was young -- probably grade-school age. My joking uncles thought it would be funny to hide my present. We sat in a large circle and opened our gifts, but I was empty handed. My sensitive soul did not take the joke well and my uncles quickly procured my gift. But I will never forget the feeling of being the one without. A kindness anticipated but revoked. I bet we all have felt forgotten at least a few times in our lives. It’s a hurt that cuts.
Oh Christian, are we FOR the forgotten?
Recall a time you were forgotten. Sit with that feeling for a while. Would you like to alleviate that pain --- in Jesus’ name --- for someone else?
Thank you, Lord for your gracious mercy and your many gifts. Help me to see the forgotten. Open my eyes to see and understand.
