Field of Dreams - Day 5

Opening Prayer:

Dear God, help me overcome my fear of being faithful to you. Give me faith like Abraham and keep my eyes on things of Heaven.

Read: Hebrews 11:8 (NIV)

8 “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.”

Reflect:

Abraham packed up his family and went to a place he did not know in order to follow God. Would this scare you?

Read on, Hebrews 11:13-16 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country---a heavenly one.

Remember that faith is confidence in what is hoped for. Keep your eyes on what is promised ahead of you. Just like Abraham. It’s the only way to overcome fear and worry in this life.

Apply:

When worry or fear creeps in today, turn your thoughts to heavenly matters. How will staying focused on God and his promises help you overcome?

Closing Prayer:

Dear God, help me to throw off everything that hinders, and the sin that so easily entangles, and let me run with perseverance the race marked out for me. Let me fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
