Unfinished Life: Week 2 - Day 1 - Selfless

Opening Prayer:

Jesus, help us to see past our failures and reveal to us the truth of your perfect sacrifice that makes us righteous in God’s site.  Amen.

Read: Hebrews 10:22 (NIV)

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. In our broken world this adage is heard often.  We evaluate truth through a distorted filter. After all, what is genuine truth?  We have misinformation blaring from all sides to confuse and distract us. No wonder people have a hard time believing the perfect truth of Christ.

In WWII, Adolf Hitler's minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels stated “if you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently it will be believed as truth.” Through this big lie the Nazis escorted Germany into all of Europe bringing down millions in their wake. However, God has given us genuine truth to combat the father of lies.

The enemy is an expert in half-truths.  He says “you're not good enough” and yes that is true, but the other half of that statement is that, Jesus is!  In any case, it's not our righteousness, but Jesus’ that secured our acceptance. The enemy also reminds us of our sins. But God says “what sin?”  Since we are covered in the righteousness of Christ, when he looks at us, he sees Jesus! This absolute truth is not of this world, broken and distorted. It's perfect, like our father in Heaven who ordained it.  Yes, it is too good to be true, but it is genuinely true and we can stake our lives on it. As it says in Romans 10:17 (NKJV) “… faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  As we embrace the word of God, faith will follow.  Continue to walk onward in it.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, help us to keep our faith focused on your truth and not be caught-up in Satan’s web of lies.  Amen.
