Unfinished Life: Week 2 - Day 3 - Selfless

Opening Prayer:

Lord, help us to see that we are loved more than we can imagine. Amen.

Read: Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

Reflect:

Last year we were awakened to an alert that we can all learn by.  Our granddaughter, Kirsten and her new husband, Alex, were on their honeymoon at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii when they received an EMERGENCY ALERT of a BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT on their cell phones!  During those agonizing 26 minutes our granddaughter was challenged with what to do.  It was simple!  Call home and tell everyone how much she loves us.

Apply:

Life is full of challenges & choices.  Often our choices are muddled with all the prospects of our daily existence.  However, when it comes down to the final hour, how clear things become!  Fortunately as it turned out, Kirsten did not have to send that message, nevertheless she enthusiastically sent her love to us all.  Oh, how we need to share those three most important little words more freely and often.  It is the most fundamental need of mankind – to be loved.  The giving of Jesus’ life and sacrifice on the cross is God’s greatest gift of love ever.  As God fills us with his love, we will overflow with love and good deeds.

Closing Prayer:

Thank you for giving us your love.  The best gift ever!  Let that love enable us to reach out to others and guide them to you.  Amen.
