Unfinished Life: Week 2 - Day 5 - Selfless

Opening Prayer:

Lord, show us what really matters to you and help us to reveal your love to others.  Amen.

Read: Galatians 6:1-2 (NIV)

“Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

Reflect:

Living the life of Christ requires selfless living.  Stepping outside our comfort zone to help others is challenging territory. We see life through a very narrow lens and are biased by our own selfishness. Jesus’ life is our perfect example.  He literally left his mansion in heaven to be born in a barn. During his short life, he served others, healed the sick, washed feet, fed thousands and sacrificed his own life to secure our salvation. He was totally faithful to the father.

Apply:

Jesus said in Matthew 25:45 “truly whatever you do for the least of these you do for me.”  Restoring a life is a precious form of worship and living for others allows us the privilege of being the hands and feet of Jesus.   Ask the Lord to guide you to someone who is struggling.  Then reach out to them with love and kindness.   As we decrease and the Lord increases in us, John 3:30, we can truly find the ability to live beyond ourselves.

Closing Prayer:

Open our hearts and fill it with your love that it might overflow to others.   Bring someone into our life so that we can show them your love.   Amen.
