Detox: Week 1 - Unwillingness - Day 3

Opening Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we know that you care for us at all times. Let us feel your presence when we least expect it.

Read: Matthew 10:31 (NIV)

So, don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Reflect:

Jesus is sending out the twelve disciples.  Can you imagine how scared they must have been?  For 30 verses he is trying to caution them and assure them that he will take care of them.  Jesus goes on to say that even the Holy Spirit will tell them what to say when they are arrested.  Have you ever been in a situation that you really couldn’t get out of and you had to totally rely on God?  Sometimes things cannot be fixed by man and the world.  Did you ever feel God’s presence when you needed it the most?  Have you been still long enough to hear his voice?  Has he reached out to you and opened a door that looked like it was nailed shut?  No one can kill your soul, he tells the disciples.  Believe and don’t be afraid because God loves you. Sparrows are plentiful and you are worth more than a measly sparrow.  He wants us to speak of him and to call out to him for help.  God will calm our fear and frustration in any circumstance.

Apply:

Write down some things that you cannot fix and pray about it.  Then WAIT to see the Lord’s provision.

Closing Prayer:

Thank you, Jesus, for taking us this far and closing doors that we wanted to stay open.  We know you are in charge and we are willing to rest in your arms.
