Detox: Week 2 - Guilt - Day 3
Lord, help me develop more confidence in you as I read through this Scripture.
Read: Hebrews 10:19-22 (NIV)
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
This Scripture is very comforting to me because I tend to second guess myself. I can’t count the number of times I have lain awake at night reliving something that happened the previous day. I am very good at playing the Monday morning quarterback for my life, running through a variety of scenarios and “what ifs” that I should have done. Unlike Nehemiah, who prayed before he spoke to the King, I tend to speak and then pray to God that the individual/group will ignore what I said. I have also found that Satan has a way of resurrecting these situations in my mind weeks, maybe years, later.
Take the above Scripture to heart and enter the Most Holy Place confidently because our Great High Priest has already shed his blood for us. Keep in mind Hebrews 10:22…. “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
When I begin to rework something that happened earlier in the day, I need to claim this Scripture, turn to Jesus, ask his forgiveness, and move forward with my life because his blood has made me clean.
When you have times this week that you start dwelling on past events and feeling sorry for or second guessing yourself, read this Scripture. Then ask Jesus for his forgiveness and remember he has already paid the price for your sin.
God, because I know you are always there for me, help me step out as a more confident Christian for you. In your name, amen.
