The Unfinished Life Perseveres, Doesn’t Quit - Day 3

Opening Prayer:

Abba, Father, I thank you for this day and this opportunity to grow my relationship with you. I pray not only that I hear with my ears, but also with my heart. I pray the words I see and hear will be visible to the world that sees and hears me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Read: Hebrews 12:3 NIV

3 “Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Opposition is the result of a very sinful and broken world inhabited by very sinful and broken people. It has been that way since our older brother Adam and older sister Eve decided they would do things their way. Because of that moment, Jesus’ opposition was inevitable, as was every Christian’s, as was yours and mine.

Since opposition is a given… how do we view opposition and how do we respond? We can view our opposition as punishment and respond by turning away from the one that “sent it”. Or, we can consider our opposition (sufferings) to be “pure joy” (James 1:2) and respond by drawing closer to God, as Jesus did.

Jesus endured the epitome of opposition so that you and I would have the opportunity to share in his glory in Heaven. He endured the cross to bring ALL glory to God. As children of God, we are co-heirs with Christ and if we are obedient and faithful in the face of opposition as Jesus was, we, too, will share in his glory. (Romans 8:17)

Live your life and endure opposition as Jesus did – to glorify God and to someday be in his presence for eternity. As Jesus was/is an example to us, we must be the same example to a very opposing world. Remember that in no way does the pain of your opposition, your suffering compare to the glory of Heaven!!!

Closing Prayer:

Father God, I thank you Lord for Jesus Christ and the example he was and still is! Lord, strengthen me to face opposition as he did, forever bringing you glory! I know that any, and all, opposition I face as a Christian will all be worth it when the day comes that I see you face to face. Praise God! It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
