The Parent Race: The Best Goal - Day 5

Opening Prayer:

Lord, we know nothing is hard for you.  Work through our stubborn nature to make us more like Jesus.  Help us to nurture that which you have given us and help our spirit to grow.

Read: Proverbs 3:19 (NIV)

“By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place.”

Reflect:

“Oh, be careful little eyes what you see, oh, be careful little ears what you hear, oh, be careful little mouth what you say, oh, be careful little feet where you go. For the father up above is looking down with love.” A child’s Sunday school song can guide us on our lifelong journey. This song reflects clearly the wisdom found in Proverbs 4:20-27. It's accurate to say that what we allow into our lives is what we become. In our culture, we have an enormous amount of input trying for our attention…TV, Facebook, and Twitter just to name a few.  The challenge of filtering these notifications is our responsibility.

Apply:

We must guard the wisdom that God has planted in our hearts. Evil communications can be like the herbicide Roundup, which works like a poison on the roots of wisdom.   The antidote is to faithfully place your thoughts and mind on those things which are godly.  Surround yourself with wise counsel, delight in God’s law and meditate on it.  It really just boils down to our choice of what we allow into our lives.  Romans 12:2 (NIV) say it best.  “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will”.  When we renew ourselves with God’s word and wisdom we will discover his blessings and true peace.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, we humble ourselves before you and worship your holy name.
