Plot Twist: Week 2 - Day 4

Opening Prayer:

Father God, help us to listen and spread the word of how magnificent you are.

Read: Luke 8:18 (NIV)

“Therefore, consider carefully how you listen.  Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”

Reflect:

Have you ever not listened to a conversation?  Maybe it was a very important conversation, but you were thinking of something else.  Learning to listen is a very important skill.  I talk to my students about this every day because they are distracted most of the time. I know why Jesus talked in parables, everyone loves a good story.  If I start out the day with a story, I usually have them hooked. I must admit. I did not always listen in college. I tried to remember everything the professors said, but I was too busy writing everything down!  An auditory learner I am not, very few of us remember everything we have heard.  Jesus wants us to talk about him and what wonderful things he can bestow on us.  We are to be generous with everything we have and what we hear.  Spread the good news of how knowing and serving God is part of who he wants us to be. Do not be stingy with your time, money, listening, and love, because it could disappear.  For all your earthly possessions are not yours, but the Lord’s.  Share stories of Jesus’ love for us with someone today!

Apply:

Write down several names of people you know that would benefit from learning more about Christ and how he is the light of the world.  Pray that there will be many opportunities in the next few weeks that you would be able to share the gospel with them.

Closing Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for always listening to me.  I want to be a good listener, learner and giver.  Show me ways in which I can improve. I want to share the good news.  Help me to be more readily available when the time arises.
