Plot Twist: Week 2 - Day 5

Opening Prayer:

Oh God, you are the light of my life and the joy of my salvation, hear me as I cry out to you today.

Read: John 1:4-5 (NIV)

“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Reflect:

As a young girl growing up in a strict Baptist church in Texas, I knew that my parents had something that I did not have.  There were things that you did not do; and that was dance.  I could not, for the life of me as a teenager growing up in the 70’s, like rock and roll and not dance?  Well, the rebellious teen that I was, finally asked my mother why.  She repeated, as I had heard in church and not listened, that I would not be able to witness to anyone on the dance floor!  Well, from that day forward I thought, “why not!”  I believe we can witness to anyone if we are bold.  We are Christians and we should be spreading the gospel about Jesus Christ.  The life that Christ gives us is everlasting and we should be proud and excited to share it with anyone.  Some people are born evangelistic, I must work at it.  It is not my gift.  Our light that God has given us has to shine forth so that others can see we have what they need.  We are meant to live eternally with him and we want everyone to have that opportunity.  You can witness on the dance floor, at work, and at the store.  God can do anything.

Apply:

Continue to look for opportunities to talk to someone about your small group, Sunday school class, or sermon you heard (write down a story, or the steps of salvation, in your phone).  Ask God to make you bold and share your story with someone who may be going through the same circumstance.  Ask them to share and tell them you know someone that is a real good listener.

Closing Prayer:

God, we know you are the beginning and the end.  Help me to be excited to share the gospel with someone this week.
