Plot Twist: Week 6 - Day 3
Lord, as I come to you today, please open my heart to your word.
Read: Luke 12:45 (NIV)
45 “But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk.”
You’ve been a great manager, but you really thought the work would be over by now. Oh, it’s taking such a long time! Are you getting distracted? Are you allowing mis-management to take place?
Now is not the time to lose focus. What does it look like to trust in God’s timing? Imagine you are in your car at a busy two-way stop, needing to turn left. Patience in waiting will get you home safely.
It is easy to get distracted or doubt God’s timing. Sometimes God seems slow. However, God’s timing is his timing and perfect. So, let’s trust God’s timing.
I love the adage that says following Christ is “a long obedience in the same direction.”
Reflect on a time that God showed you his timing is perfect. Is there some time in your life that you wanted something now (right now!), but in waiting, you learned that God had something even better in mind?
Lord, so often I get the concept of time wrong. I base it on my feelings or some arbitrary idea. Help me to see that your timing is perfect.
