Plot Twist: Week 6 - Day 4

Opening Prayer:

Dear Lord and savior, I submit my disobedience to you today.

Read: Luke 12:47 (NIV)

47 “The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows.”

Reflect:

No one likes to think of God punishing, but here we have Jesus saying disobedience has a consequence.

Let’s consider what it takes to keep a car running smoothly. When I was a young teen my dad spent time instructing me on how to care for my car: oil changes, gas fill-ups, insurance and registration, etc. One day while cruising down a Kansas highway with friends, we heard an awful noise and the car started driving funny. I hate to admit it now, but I kept on driving and even turned the radio up to mask the noise. Eventually I pulled over. A deflated tire had led to a flat tire. Driving on the flat tire led to a dented rim. My very natural consequence was a very real car mechanics bill.

Apply:

The next time I feel like life is dealing me some punches, I’m going to reflect---have I been a poor manager of what I’ve been entrusted with?

Closing Prayer:

Thank you for lessons learned and consequences accepted. Help me to not repeat the mistakes of my past.
