Plot Twist: Week 6 - Day 5
I have come to you this week to be a wise manager of what you have given me. Dear Lord, thank you for helping me work toward eternity to find meaning today.
Read: Luke 12:48 (NIV)
48 “But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”
“To whom much is given, much is expected” is an often-misunderstood idea. The world would tell you to concentrate on the material things that can be given. For instance, it would be wrong to think that only those who have a lot of money should donate it to charity. That only those who have an abundance of love and comfort can offer it to others.
We have been entrusted with certain things, and faithfulness means that we manage those things well, being ready for Christ’s return. God has given all of us his grace, his word, spiritual gifts, etc. to be used for his glory.
For faithfulness, there is a reward. So, let us take the mission seriously and serve God fully.
Am I ready for Christ’s return? This isn’t a question you can ask and then check done. It’s a daily commitment. A daily commitment to serve Christ and to manage well what you have been given.
Dear Lord, I long for your return. Direct my thoughts and feelings toward you. Give me today’s daily bread that I might serve you well. Amen.
