Plot Twist: Week 7 - Day 1
Lord, open my eyes to your love today. Help me to see you in a fresh way as I study your word. I pray that you will fill me with the knowledge of your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Amen
Read: Luke 13:18 (NIV)
“Then Jesus asked, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to?’”
Have you ever stopped to consider that you are part of God’s kingdom? I mean really pause and sit with the fact that as John 1:12 says, “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Let’s stop here just for a minute. Close your eyes and let that idea flood your soul. As a believer in Christ, you are part of God’s kingdom, his family. You are his child. To be honest, thinking about the magnitude of this is so comforting and awesome. We are to know God and love God, and we are also called to carry out his kingdom work. God has called us to help carry his message to the ends of the earth.
Given all the people, groups, and places that need to hear and see God’s message, it can be totally overwhelming to figure out how God is specifically calling you. What people in your life are you being called to deepen a relationship with? Which ministry at church are you being called to serve in? Where is God calling you to go for a mission trip?
It can be so easy to get distracted with our day-to-day lives that we are not seeking God’s leading. Saving only the leftover time in our lives for God does not put us in a good position to hear him when he calls us. We must genuinely seek God daily to discern his desire for our lives. The first step to changing the world and moving God’s kingdom forward is to seek his will in our lives.
Ask God to reveal to you a person he would like you to minister to, a ministry he would like you to volunteer in, or a place he would like you to serve. Contemplate the importance of setting aside some of your best time for God this week and then spend that time in prayer and reflection with your creator.
God, I pray that you may count me worthy of your calling, and that by your power you may fulfill every good purpose and every act of faith. Amen.
