Back to School: Get Enrolled - Day 3

Opening Prayer:

Dearest Lord, open our minds to your truth.  Help us to lay aside our preconceived ideas and trust in your holy word.  Amen…

Read: Acts 2:38 (NIV)

“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Reflect:

Have you ever experienced a genuine turning point in your life?   Acts 2 describes the fulfillment of God's promise to send us his helper, the Holy Spirit, This experience was so magnificent that no one could miss it. In the midst of the Feast of Pentecost, a day of celebration and thanksgiving for the harvest, the Holy Spirit showed up. With roaring winds, tongues of fire and a message orchestrated by the Holy Spirit for everyone to understand in their own language.  Don’t we sometimes get so caught up in the way the message was given that we miss out on what the message was about?  The day of Pentecost was a defining moment in our Christian history.  It was proof that God’s message was given to every race and nationality. This was the day the gospel and the Holy Spirit united to bring God's word to the world. As Peter proclaimed the good news of Jesus Christ, ears and eyes were opened revealing the truth and as a result many repented, were baptized and received the Holy Spirit.

I recently returned from a mission’s trip to TCM, a ministry that trains leaders for ministry. Their goal is to make disciples in every nation.  During our session, there were people from eleven various countries.  One thing that was necessary for this to work was to have several translators. It was interesting sitting in a service where the message was given and hearing the other languages translated all around the room. Somehow I feel this was a small example of the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit broadcast the gospel to all cultures. God's desire is to reach the whole world and this experience is the proof.

Apply:

Is there a defining moment in your life that focused all your being to one grand pinnacle of enlightenment?  Be open to the Holy Spirit in your life. With his help you can experience God in a fuller way.  As we take steps of obedience and baptism we show him that we are all in and I promise you, your life will never be the same. What is stopping you from giving it all to Him?

Closing Prayer:

Dearest Lord, We thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Help us to allow you full access to our life and help us to walk in obedience.    Amen…
