Back to School: Join a Team - Day 3
Dear Lord, give us courage to join the battle for lost souls. Equip us with passion to deliver the message of the gospel with conviction. Amen.
Read: Acts 2:47 (NIV)
“Praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
In Acts 2:47 as the early believers grew closer to God and each other, God added to the church daily. We see the church sharing their possessions, eating meals together and praising God in unity; and God blessed them with more followers. Being faithful with what you have is an essential part in growth.
As our country moves toward a post-Christian culture, it is vital for the church to step up to the challenge and make a surge for the lost. The only way for change is for lives to come to Jesus, because only in him can we live a truly moral life. When the Holy Spirit is allowed to change people’s hearts, the culture will change as well. There are a lot of battles, but the battle for lost souls is supreme and the only one which produces eternal victory. What a travesty to gain the world but lose souls.
Like the early Church in Acts, we must be united in our calling to win souls. This is our one true calling from the Lord. A man's last words are very significant. I remember when my dad died and how important his final words were. In the last chapter of all four gospels you will find Jesus’ last words to us all have a similar emphasis. As his final words, these directives are crucial for us to take heed. Listen to our Lord Jesus as he gives us our final mandate.
(1) Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
(2) Mark 16:15 “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
(3) Luke 24:47 “and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations,”
(4) John 21:15-17 “…feed my sheep...”
Dear Lord, give us a loving heart that grieves for the lost. Amen.
