FOR... Schools - Day 5

Opening Prayer:

Jesus, guide my heart and mind today as I study your word. Help me to slow down so I can understand your will for my life. Amen.

Read:  Proverbs 4:13

“Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.”

Reflect:

The Bible is full of wisdom and instruction from God. God has not made us and then left us to figure out how to navigate life alone. From the very beginning he has given instructions for how to live so that we can be safe, knowledgeable and focused on his mission. From Genesis to Revelation, God gives wisdom and guidance for life.

Being involved in the lives of children and students, either in the school or in another volunteer setting, gives us the opportunity as Christians to pass on the wisdom we have been given by God. If you are not putting yourself in front of children and students and investing in their lives, you are missing the chance to display the love of Christ to a generation that desperately needs to know him.

Apply:

Don’t just think about how you can get involved, ACT. If you don’t know where to start, contact a school in your community and ask how you can help. Call the church office and find out ways you can volunteer with children and students. God not only wants us to hear his instructions but to follow them and pass that wisdom on to others.

Closing Prayer:

Father, show me how I can invest and pass on your wisdom to the next generation. Give me the courage to act. Amen.
