FOR... Neighbors - Day 1

Opening Prayer:

Lord, I ask you to guide my heart and my eyes today to see others as you do.

Read: Mark 12:31 (NIV)

31 “The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[a] There is no commandment greater than these.”

Love your neighbor as yourself.  Do I take the time to think about who is my neighbor?  Let alone to show them love?  Today, as you take time to reflect, think back to a time when you remember when someone treated you with love as a neighbor.  I remember years ago, newly married and moving to Wichita. The only person I knew was my husband.  He would go off to work every day and I would unpack boxes and try to create order among-st the chaos.  One day, the doorbell rang and there were 2 women at the door with a plate of goodies to welcome me to the neighborhood.  They didn’t stay long, but they made a huge impact in my life.  I felt treasured.  It was a good feeling.

Does the story above make you think of one of your own?  I encourage you to take the time to think about this.  Think about how you felt. Then ask God to reveal a neighbor that could benefit from a knock on the door for a quick conversation showing his love to them.

Closing Prayer:

Remind me Lord of this commandment….Love my neighbor as myself….don’t let me just think about it and not put your love into action.  I love you Lord.
